Home and Overseas Match Update

The BCCA team in the BCCTC team achieved a second successive tournament triumph and are now the team to beat in this competition. The 2011/12 team has just been set up so good luck guys!

The North v South match is progressing slowly but the South has a strong lead. Please send me your results if you have not already done so.

We are holding up well in the challenging DESC 2011 with players of a high standard. The qualifying stage is progressing and the match scores to date (our score first) are;

v IWEC Iceland 1.5 – 0.5
v Chess Analysators 0.5 – 0.5 v Grun weib Wismar 0 – 2
v DESC Europe 2 – 2 (complete)
v CIF 1 1.5 – 0.5

We are still behind in our match with the Canadian CCA but it remains close and we can still win it. One game remains outstanding in the New England match but we have a comfortable win.

The ‘postal only’ PPCC match is progressing slowly with two games complete.

Our Schemingmind teams have ended another excellent season and have won their division, gaining promotion to Division 3. We have many regular players but if you are happy to play webserver chess and would like to be included in a match please let me know and I will welcome you to the squad. Some of our regular players will appreciate a well earned break from competition.

Finally, many of you expressed an interest in playing in the Scottish CCA postal tournament. This will be launched early in 2012 but it seems likely that we enter four teams! Most of those who applied will get to play and I will write to everyone in December.

In the meantime I have been in correspondence with the US and a match will be arranged probably next month. Closer to home, Phill Beckett and I hope to be able to organise a BCCA v Sheffield match.

Ongoing Scores as at 5/11/11
